The garcon

03/22/08 @ 04:14:54 pm, by Vanessa Email 896 views • Categories: Restaurants

Greetings from Paris. This will be brief because of technical difficulties. Paris is tres cool.

There is a poem, I believe it is by William Carlos Williams, and the first line goes something like, "So much depends upon the red wheelbarrow..."

I think of this line each time I enter a restaurant, cafe, bistro, or brasserie and I get the treat of navigating the french dining experience with a professional garcon...the likes of which I have never, ever, encountered in the US. These men are superb and enhance the dining expereience immeasurably...they turn a simple quiche and glass of vin rouge into a feast and so much of the Parisean experience depends upon their service...they are tres magnifique.

Very nice snapshot. I first though while browsing through my RSS that you were talking about the French song "garcon", but no you are talking about garçon, "les garçons de café". You just forgot the little thingy under the C ;-)

The best part is the length of their aprons - sometimes down to the floor. I don't know why but I find it so sexy.
